Iraq’s Parliament emphasizes education law approval by urging committees to accelerate the submission process to the Presidency. Parliament Speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani directed the specialized committees to send the Ministry of Education law for official ratification immediately.
According to the Speaker’s media office, al-Mashhadani received a delegation of educators today, including their representative, Malik Hadi. During the meeting, he reiterated his full support for the Ministry of Education law and stressed the committees must expedite the law’s submission to the Presidency for approval and publication in the Iraqi Gazette.
Furthermore, al-Mashhadani highlighted that he continuously monitors government implementation of all law provisions. He emphasized ensuring fairness for teachers, school staff, and Ministry of Education employees, who represent a crucial pillar of Iraqi society.
In response, Malik Hadi and other educators expressed gratitude for al-Mashhadani’s exceptional efforts and humanitarian stance in voting for the law. They noted that his support reflects the Parliament’s commitment to a segment considered the backbone of Iraq’s education system.
Additionally, al-Mashhadani confirmed that the law will officially reach the Presidency next week, completing the final stages of ratification. This step ensures educators can benefit from the law’s provisions without further delay.
The education law approval process highlights the Parliament’s role in protecting educators’ rights while strengthening Iraq’s educational framework. It also demonstrates the importance of swift legislative action to support social and institutional development.
Experts note that once fully ratified, the law will enhance teachers’ professional conditions, improve school administration, and provide a clearer legal framework for the Ministry of Education. Consequently, this legislation is expected to positively influence education quality across Iraq.
Through this initiative, the Iraqi Parliament reinforces its commitment to public service and educational reform. Observers emphasize that education law approval ensures both accountability and long-term benefits for teachers, students, and the broader society.
