Iraqi Football Clubs Step Up Transfer Activity Ahead of New Season

The Iraqi football transfer surge has picked up momentum as clubs across the country rush to reinforce their squads before the league kicks off. Teams are working aggressively to finalize deals and prepare for what promises to be a highly competitive season.

Newly promoted Al-Gharraf made bold moves by signing Tunisian defender Wael Ben Othman from Newroz for one season. Additionally, Tunisian midfielder Alaa Al-Din Al-Boualaqi joined the squad on a free transfer after ending his contract with CA Bizertin.

Meanwhile, Al-Karma brought in rising Iraqi talent Omar Mahbas, known as Amroush, from Al-Joulan. Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya also added international goalkeeper Mohammed Saleh from Duhok and re-signed Ramadan Siddiq (Seebo) for the upcoming season.

On the international front, Iraqi national team star Mustafa Saadoun received a major offer exceeding $1 million from Belgium’s KAA Gent. The club is a well-known competitor in both Belgian and European football.

Furthermore, Zakho is negotiating to bring in two big names—Mohannad Ali, last season’s top scorer from Al-Shorta, and Osama Rashid, who played for Erbil. Both signings are expected to be completed soon.

Duhok, meanwhile, is finalizing talks with goalkeeper Mohammed Hassan to replace Mohammed Saleh. Title-holders Al-Shorta are nearing a deal with Jordanian defender Hussam Abu Al-Dahab, a standout in his national squad.

These aggressive signings reflect a broader Iraqi football transfer surge that showcases clubs’ growing ambitions and professional strategies. They are not just filling gaps—they are building depth and quality across positions.

As anticipation builds, fans expect thrilling matches and stronger league competition. If the current Iraqi football transfer surge continues, the upcoming season may become one of the most exciting in recent memory.Fans across Iraq are now eagerly tracking every club’s next move. With each transfer, expectations grow higher. If this trend continues, the Iraqi football scene could enter a golden era of competition, excitement, and international recognition.
