Baghdad Hotel Development Surges

Meanwhile, the Baghdad hotel development surge is reshaping Iraq’s capital. Over 20 luxury hotel projects are now under construction across the city. These ambitious developments signal a dramatic shift in Baghdad’s tourism and hospitality sector.

International brands like Rixos, Rotana, Mövenpick, and Hyatt are entering the market. Their arrival reflects growing investor confidence and long-term commitment to Baghdad’s recovery and modernization. As a result, the Baghdad hotel development surge is creating fierce competition among local and foreign operators.

In particular, the Rusafa and Karkh sides of the Tigris River are leading this transformation. Jadriyah and Karrada have emerged as hotspots for new luxury properties. Developers have selected these neighborhoods for their strategic value and scenic location.

On the Rusafa side, 13 new hotels are under construction. These include the Hyatt Baghdad, located opposite the iconic Zaha Hadid-designed CBI tower. Jadriyah will also welcome the upscale Doo Hotel and Mirage by Rotana. Renovation projects are reviving Baghdad’s legendary Al-Sadeer and Ishtar Hotels. River Rock Hospitality will manage the restored Ishtar Hotel, adding further prestige. Other additions include five-star towers near Dijlah Village and the Nawas Tower hotel.

Meanwhile, the Karkh side is witnessing seven large-scale resorts rise. Within the International Zone, major hotels are rapidly taking shape. These include the sprawling Rixos Baghdad resort, Mövenpick Al-Zaytoun Hotel & Resort, and Centro by Rotana. In Al-Dura, the Jewel of Baghdad Hotel forms part of the vast Iraq Mall development.

Importantly, this hotel boom supports more than just luxury stays. It contributes to Iraq’s broader strategy to rebuild infrastructure and modernize its economy. The Baghdad hotel development surge offers new opportunities for leisure, business, and regional tourism. Consequently, it could attract even more global hospitality brands in the future.

Ultimately, Baghdad’s evolving skyline reflects a new vision for urban growth, international investment, and regional leadership in the tourism sector.
