Prime Minister al-Sudani Meets Serbian Ambassador, Receives Official Invitation

Baghdad – Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani received an official invitation from the Serbian Ambassador to Iraq, Branislav Zejelj, on Saturday. Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani’s office confirmed the meeting, emphasizing its importance for strengthening Iraq-Serbia relations. The ambassador delivered a letter inviting the Prime Minister to visit Belgrade.

During the meeting, both parties discussed bilateral relations and explored ways to develop cooperation across multiple fields. They focused on economic, trade, and investment opportunities to benefit both nations. Additionally, the discussion aimed to reinforce the strong ties that already exist between Iraq and Serbia.

Furthermore, the two sides expressed their commitment to supporting regional and international peace efforts. They stressed the need to uphold the ceasefire and promote negotiations to avoid further conflict in the region. Both leaders also agreed on the importance of stopping aggression in the Gaza Strip and delivering humanitarian aid to Palestinians under siege.

The Serbian ambassador conveyed greetings from Serbia’s president and government to Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani. He expressed his country’s eagerness to deepen cooperation, particularly in infrastructure projects. This cooperation aims to boost development and mutual growth for both countries.

This visit invitation signals Serbia’s intent to strengthen diplomatic and economic relations with Iraq. Both countries see vast potential in expanding collaboration, especially in sectors like trade and infrastructure. Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani welcomed the ambassador’s visit and the invitation, signaling a positive step toward closer ties.
