Iraq Denies Israeli Airstrikes from Its Territory, Rejects Iranian Claims

Baghdad – Iraq denies Israeli airstrikes from its territory, dismissing Iranian accusations as groundless. On Sunday, the Iraqi Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee responded directly to claims from Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi.

Committee member Yasser Watout stated that the accusations were “baseless and unsupported by evidence.” He explained that the committee had consulted top security and air force officials. According to these officials, no Israeli aircraft launched or passed through Iraq.

Watout emphasized that Iraq has a firm policy against using its territory for attacks on other nations. He added that the country does not allow foreign powers to violate its sovereignty.

Tensions in the region have risen sharply. Israel’s recent military operation, named Operation Rising Lion, struck several Iranian nuclear and military locations on June 13. In response, Iran launched a counterattack called True Promise 3. The retaliation involved three days of missile strikes targeting Israeli military infrastructure.

These events fueled widespread speculation and misinformation. Iranian officials pointed to Iraqi territory as a possible launch site for Israel’s strikes. However, Iraq denies Israeli airstrikes with clear evidence and direct communication with military leadership.

Yasser Watout reiterated Iraq’s commitment to neutrality in regional conflicts. He warned that such accusations could destabilize Iraq and increase public anxiety. Instead, Watout called for diplomatic engagement and factual reporting to avoid further escalation.

Moreover, he encouraged all nations to avoid making provocative statements without verified intelligence. Misleading claims, he said, only damage regional stability.

The Iraqi government continues to coordinate with neighboring countries to ensure border integrity. It also seeks to prevent foreign military use of its airspace or territory.

Security agencies remain on alert for any violations. Meanwhile, the Defense Committee promised transparency and ongoing updates to the public.

In conclusion, Iraq denies Israeli airstrikes through both official statements and confirmed investigations. Iraq aims to distance itself from regional hostilities and maintain its sovereignty during a volatile time.
