Iraq Prepares for Intense Summer Heat

Extreme heat in Iraq is about to strike as the first major summer heatwave approaches.
The Iraqi Meteorological Organization has confirmed rising temperatures across the country.
A semi-tropical high-pressure system is driving the heat surge this season.
This system will bring dangerous temperatures across the north, center, and south of Iraq.

Officials expect the heatwave to begin this Friday.
Furthermore, the heat is likely to intensify into early next week.
According to weather models, the north will reach between 44 and 46 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, central areas will see higher temperatures, peaking between 49 and 50 degrees.
In contrast, the south may endure the worst conditions, reaching up to 52 degrees Celsius.

Deviation From Normal Conditions

The meteorological authority noted a clear shift from typical early summer patterns.
The heatwave marks a sharp deviation from average seasonal expectations.
This pressure system will hold much of Iraq in high heat for several days.
Most regions may see relief by midweek.
However, the south may stay hot until the weekend.

Public Health and Safety Warnings

This kind of heat presents real danger to public health.
Authorities urge people to remain indoors during the hottest parts of the day.
They also advise staying hydrated and avoiding direct sun exposure.
Health services are now on alert for heat-related emergencies.
Emergency teams are preparing for possible spikes in illness.

Experts warn this could mark the start of repeated extreme summer events.
Long-term data shows rising temperatures becoming more frequent in Iraq.
Climate change continues to push Iraq into new extremes each year.
As a result, extreme heat in Iraq is growing more dangerous.

Stay Informed and Take Precautions

The public should monitor updates from official weather sources.
Follow all safety recommendations without delay.
In this evolving crisis, everyone must stay cautious.
Extreme heat in Iraq is no longer rare—it is the new normal.
