Iraq Pushes to Host Key Round of Asian World Cup Qualifiers

Baghdad – Iraq seeks to host World Cup qualifiers as it works to elevate its status in Asian football. The Iraqi Football Association recently submitted an official request. It hopes to organize one of the two groups in the fourth round of the qualifiers.

To support its case, Iraq contacted both FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation. Officials emphasized the importance of fairness in selecting host nations. Iraq urged transparency throughout the decision-making process. All nations, it said, must be treated equally with clear guidelines in place.

However, The upcoming fourth round will feature six teams. These teams placed third and fourth in the previous qualifying phase. They will be split into two groups.
