Stars Assemble for Iraq’s World Cup Push

Key Iraqi footballers have begun arriving in Basra to join the national team’s training camp. The camp is part of Iraq’s World Cup Push ahead of two vital qualifying matches.

Leading the preparations is newly appointed head coach Graham Arnold. The Australian tactician has started training sessions at Basra Sports City. He is focused on building strong team chemistry before the upcoming fixtures.

Among the early arrivals are Ibrahim Bayesh from Saudi Arabia’s Al-Riyadh SC, Osama Rashid of Erbil SC, and Frans Putros, who plays for Thailand’s Port FC. These three players bring international experience and defensive strength to the squad.

Nineteen players took part in the first training session under Arnold’s leadership. Energy was high as the squad began working toward match readiness. Coaching staff emphasized tactical drills, movement off the ball, and attacking formations.

Midfielder Montadhar Majid, who plays for Sweden’s Hammarby IF, will join soon. He remains committed to his club until his final match this weekend. His arrival is expected to further strengthen midfield creativity and control.

The upcoming qualifiers are crucial. Iraq is set to face South Korea and Jordan. These matches are must-win clashes in Iraq’s World Cup Push for a place in the 2026 tournament.

Team officials say training intensity will increase as more players arrive. The full squad is expected to unite within days. Coach Arnold aims to build momentum quickly and ensure tactical discipline ahead of the fixtures.

Players and fans alike understand the significance of this campaign. The dream of reaching the 2026 FIFA World Cup is alive and urgent. Iraq’s passionate supporters hope the team can deliver on the pitch.

With talented players and renewed leadership, Iraq’s World Cup Push enters a vital stage. The camp in Basra is now the heartbeat of a national effort to make history.
