Baghdad, Iraq- The UN Secretary-General’s envoy to Libya, Hanna Tetteh, affirmed that Iraq’s experience in managing political dialogue offers valuable lessons for supporting Libya’s political stability. Tetteh made these remarks following a meeting with the Chargé d’Affairs of the Iraqi Embassy in Libya, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf.
The discussion, which focused on strengthening Iraqi-Libyan relations and supporting Libya’s political dialogue efforts, highlighted the importance of exchanging experiences in national reconciliation and political dialogue. Al-Sahhaf expressed Iraq’s full support for Libya’s unity and stability, emphasizing Iraq’s readiness to offer advice and assistance in these areas.
Al-Sahhaf also shared Iraq’s own experience in fostering political dialogue and building national consensus. He stressed that Iraq could provide valuable guidance to Libya in these efforts, particularly in managing complex political processes.
Tetteh praised Iraq’s role in promoting dialogue and viewed the Iraqi experience as a model for Libya. She stressed that such an approach could significantly contribute to achieving political stability in Libya. Additionally, she emphasized the need for cooperation between the two nations, particularly in areas such as reconstruction, peacebuilding, and national reconciliation.
Both sides agreed on the necessity of continued joint coordination to enhance diplomatic efforts, furthering the political dialogue that is crucial for the security and stability of both Libya and the broader region.
