Baghdad, Iraq- On Tuesday, President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid underlined the importance of collaboration between Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in addressing energy challenges and advancing the electricity sector.
The President’s remarks came during a meeting at the Baghdad Palace with Ziad Ali Fadhil, the Minister of Electricity. During the meeting, they discussed the Ministry of Electricity’s plans and preparations to address the upcoming summer season, focusing on power production, transmission, and distribution.
President Rashid stressed the need for focused efforts to resolve the electricity network’s issues. He emphasized the necessity of securing the appropriate resources to support power stations, boosting investment in this vital sector, and engaging specialized international companies to address the sector’s challenges.
Additionally, the President highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation and coordination between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government to further develop the electricity sector. He emphasized that working together would improve services for citizens and strengthen joint projects.
Minister Fadhil, for his part, discussed the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to increase electricity supply hours for citizens. He reviewed the technical campaigns aimed at maintaining and enhancing the electricity grid and praised the President’s direct involvement and support for this crucial sector.
