IHEC Confirms Campaign Start in October as Voter Registration Closes

Baghdad – IHEC confirms campaign start in October as voter registration closes ahead of Iraq’s 2025 parliamentary elections. On Monday, the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) clarified several key points about the upcoming vote.

Hassan Hadi Zayer, a spokesperson for IHEC’s media team, shared these updates in a press statement. He confirmed that the official campaign period for candidates will begin in early October. The deadline to update voter registration has officially passed.

IHEC confirms campaign start in October as voter registration closes following months of preparation. Zayer explained that the commission had offered ample time for voters to revise their records. More than two million Iraqis updated their information during the registration window.

Moreover, IHEC addressed the issue of minority representation. Zayer stated that the number of seats for minorities would remain unchanged. The current election law already defines the allocations, and no modifications are under consideration.

Looking ahead, Iraq plans to hold its next parliamentary elections on November 11, 2025. The date marks a significant milestone in the country’s democratic process. The commission continues its efforts to ensure transparency and strong voter participation.

IHEC confirms campaign start in October as voter registration closes, moving the commission into a new preparation phase. One of its major upcoming tasks is hiring enough staff to manage polling stations. According to recent statements, IHEC needs approximately 250,000 staff members to operate smoothly on Election Day.

In addition, the commission is working on a proposal to issue commendation letters to polling staff. These certificates aim to recognize the critical role workers play in securing the electoral process.

Through these steps, IHEC shows its commitment to free and fair elections. Officials continue to communicate key deadlines and expectations to both voters and candidates.

In conclusion, As the campaign period approaches, Iraq moves closer to a pivotal political moment. IHEC’s updates help shape a transparent path forward for all involved in the electoral process.
