Baghdad, Iraq- Prominent Sunni leader Abdullah Athil al-Nujaifi officially launched his new political party, Al-Masar Al-Watani (The National Path), on Saturday, confirming plans to participate in Iraq’s parliamentary elections set for October 2025. Speaking at a press conference in Mosul, Al-Nujaifi outlined the party’s commitment to rebuilding Iraq on the foundations of “justice, equality, and the rule of law,” with a focus on empowering youth to lead the movement.
“Our vision is rooted in a strategic approach and genuine political will to turn the aspirations of the Iraqi people into reality,” Al-Nujaifi said, highlighting that Nineveh would be the cornerstone of the party’s national agenda, representing a symbol of resilience and reconstruction. He emphasized that Al-Masar Al-Watani would extend its efforts across all provinces, striving to create a strong institutional state that upholds rights and ensures social justice for all.
The launch of Al-Masar Al-Watani comes amid significant shifts in Iraq’s political landscape. Earlier in February, a coalition of influential political figures introduced the Iraqi National Civil Alliance, promoting values of “justice, equality, and the demilitarization of society.” As the country moves toward the 2025 elections, these new political initiatives signal the ongoing transformation of Iraq’s political scene.
