No US Base Hit in Iraq Despite Reports of Iranian Retaliation

Baghdad – No US base hit in Iraq, US officials confirmed Monday, despite widespread reports of missile attacks by Iran. These claims followed escalating tensions after US strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Initially, several media outlets reported Iranian retaliation. Some mentioned attacks on US military bases in both Iraq and Qatar. However, the Pentagon clarified that no confirmed strike hit American positions in Iraq.

Still, an Iraqi security source told the Associated Press that Iran targeted Ain al-Asad Air Base. This facility, located in western Iraq, houses American troops. Authorities have not yet confirmed any damage or casualties at that location.

Meanwhile, Qatar issued a swift statement about the attack on Al-Udeid Air Base. More than 8,000 US troops are stationed at the site. Qatari officials said their air defenses intercepted the missiles successfully. They reported no injuries or damage and declared their airspace secure.

Iranian state television confirmed that missiles were launched. Tehran framed the move as a legitimate and effective response to recent US aggression. They called the operation a clear message following American airstrikes.

No US base hit in Iraq, even though Iran reportedly included Iraq in its missile campaign. According to Iranian media, the operation began under the code name Blessings of Victory. The campaign aimed to respond directly to Washington’s actions in the region.

An Israeli defense official confirmed to Al-Monitor that Iran launched at least ten missiles at US sites in Qatar. He also mentioned one missile directed at Iraq. However, US and local sources have not verified the impact of that specific launch.

The United States maintains a significant presence at Ain al-Asad Air Base. The site often becomes a focal point during regional flare-ups. Yet, American officials reiterated that no US base hit in Iraq as of Monday evening.

As tensions continue rising, the region braces for further developments. US officials say they are monitoring the situation closely. For now, military operations remain active, and all bases remain on high alert.
