Baghdad, Iraq- Parliament Speaker Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani emphasized on Wednesday that Iraq is experiencing a true and practical application of democratic principles, noting that all individuals and institutions are bound by judicial decisions issued by the Federal Court.
During a visit to the Federal Supreme Court, Al-Mashhadani met with the Court’s President, Jassim Al-Amiri, to discuss matters related to the legislation of laws within the legal and constitutional frameworks.
Al-Mashhadani reiterated that the Iraqi judiciary is viewed as a crucial safeguard and a protective umbrella for all Iraqis, with everyone committed to upholding the decisions made by the court. He highlighted that Iraq’s democratic process is embodied through the active role of elected representatives, who sometimes approach the Federal Court to raise objections to certain laws or decisions, all within the boundaries of the legal framework.
He stressed that the commitment to judicial rulings and Federal Court decisions is a cornerstone of Iraq’s democratic system, underscoring the importance of adhering to legal procedures.
