Baghdad – Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari visited Sudan on Saturday to personally deliver an official invitation from Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid to the Chairman of Sudan’s Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, inviting him to attend the upcoming 34th Arab Summit in Baghdad on May 17.
During the visit, Al-Shammari met with Sudanese officials, including his counterpart and the Prime Minister, to discuss matters of shared interest. A key focus of the talks was the implementation of a memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing cooperation in security, training, expertise exchange, and joint efforts to combat organized crime and drug trafficking.
The visit reflects Iraq’s ongoing diplomatic engagement with Arab nations in preparation for the summit, emphasizing regional coordination and collaboration.
