Baghdad Markets Shift to Mobile Stalls for Cleaner Streets

Baghdad mobile stalls plan has officially transformed the city’s approach to street markets, aiming to improve urban services and aesthetics. The new system replaces fixed kiosks with mobile stalls that vendors must remove after selling hours.

According to the Baghdad Municipality, the plan includes two key rules. First, vendors must move their mobile stalls to designated areas after each day of operation. Second, they must strictly follow the approved selling hours. These measures allow streets to remain clean and safe.

Spokesperson Uday Al-Jandil explained that the initiative is part of the second phase of the “Baghdad is More Beautiful” campaign. During this phase, authorities conducted widespread operations to remove violations and urban obstructions from several streets. Consequently, traffic flow for waste collection, emergency services, and civil defense has improved in narrow areas.

The plan responds directly to directives from Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani. He called for suitable alternatives for street vendors and shop owners whose irregular stalls had been recently removed. Therefore, the Baghdad mobile stalls plan balances urban order with economic opportunity for small business owners.

Furthermore, authorities emphasized that the mobile stalls help preserve the city’s aesthetic appeal. By moving stalls after hours, citizens and cleaning crews can access streets without obstacles, reducing litter and clutter. Moreover, adherence to operating hours ensures vendors maintain fair competition and public convenience.

Additionally, the municipality highlighted that this system allows for better planning and management of public spaces. Streets become more organized, safer, and visually appealing. Meanwhile, emergency vehicles and service teams can navigate the city more efficiently.

In conclusion, Baghdad mobile stalls plan demonstrates the city’s commitment to modernizing markets while protecting urban beauty. By combining regulation, citizen cooperation, and vendor support, the initiative enhances both public services and the overall shopping experience.

The municipality plans to monitor the Baghdad mobile stalls plan closely, gather feedback from vendors, and make further improvements. Ultimately, these solutions aim to enhance city life for both residents and visitors.
